At Dusk
The Frenni Fawr at dusk this evening. At the top of this hill there are a number of cairns and barrows. There are tales of encounters with y Tylwyth Teg - the 'Fair Family' or faery folk. It is also said to be the hill where, in the tales of the Mabinogion, the Roman emperor Magnus Maximus (Macsen Wledig) had his visionary dream of the Welsh princess Elen.

The wind and the rain
There has been some wild weather this weekend - forceful and unseasonably cold winds have snatched twigs and leaves from the treetops.

A miscellany
Over the last month or so, various functions on my camera have stopped working - it has now packed up altogether. A new camera is on the way which is exciting, but it is unlikely to arrive until next week; by way of an interlude here are some pictures from various times.
Dinas Head, viewed from Pentre Ifan and from Newport beach.
Sunset clouds highlight the three cairns at the top of Foel Drygarn.

Croeso
On May Day the first of our swallows returned to their summer home here. Many more have now arrived and the farmyard and buildings are full of their chatter. Nests are inspected and repaired. It's a warm and windy day and they fly in through the open doors and windows of the house, hovering expertly just below the ceilings before swooping out again.
